Polish renewable energy developer R.Power has secured project financing worth €41.6 million to support the development of four solar power plants in Romania with a combined capacity of approximately 75 MW, further strengthening its position in one of Southeast Europe’s fastest-growing renewable markets.
The financing package includes €34.1 million in euros and an additional €7.5 million in local currency, and was arranged jointly by ING Bank and UniCredit Bank, which participated on equal terms. The funds will be used to finance construction activities across all four photovoltaic projects, including a 55 MW facility connected to the high-voltage grid, highlighting the scale and grid importance of the portfolio.
All four solar plants are expected to become operational by 2027, adding new renewable generation capacity to Romania’s power system at a time when the country is rapidly expanding both utility-scale solar and hybrid energy infrastructure.
The projects form part of R.Power’s broader Romanian pipeline, which totals around 2 GW and spans operating assets, projects awarded under Contracts for Difference (CfD) schemes, as well as additional solar, hybrid and battery storage developments. The portfolio reflects a diversified strategy combining secured revenues with merchant and development-stage assets.
With this latest transaction, R.Power has now secured approximately €250 million in project financing during 2026, underscoring strong lender confidence in its regional growth strategy and execution capability.
Beyond solar development, the company is increasingly exploring battery energy storage integration, including potential installations at selected solar sites, alongside a separate pipeline of standalone storage projects aimed at capturing flexibility value in Romania’s evolving power market.
Overall, R.Power currently manages a renewable energy portfolio of around 10 GW across Poland and Romania, positioning it as one of the larger independent renewable developers active in Central and Southeast Europe.
