Rețele Electrice România plans to invest about €23.5 million, including VAT, in the Cetate substation in Timișoara, replacing ageing equipment and adding capacity at a site serving more than 25,000 customers.
A new 40 MVA transformer will supplement the substation’s existing 65 MVA capacity. The project also covers 110 kV switchgear, lower-voltage equipment and a control-room upgrade connected to the company’s remote management system.
European funding of around €12.3 million, excluding VAT, will cover part of the work. Completion is planned within 39 months of the financing agreement taking effect. The investment is intended to improve reliability for existing customers while giving the local grid more room to meet changing demand.
