Romania has had the same capacity installed in renewable energy since 2015 – 10,700 MW, of which 4,800 MW fall under the green certificate support scheme, according to a report published by CEE Bankwatch Network. The report said that there is no coherent support system for the installation of new renewable capacities in Romania in order to achieve the 30.7 % RES target, assumed for 2030.
At the same time, the fact that Romania has reached its renewable energy target for 2020 since 2015, demonstrates that the country has a substantial renewable potential that will remain untapped. Bankwatch also proposes to set higher target for 2030 of 34 % in order to attract investments in renewable energy.
