Romania’s 99.2 MW Green Breeze wind farm has completed construction, grid connection and testing and is awaiting its commercial operating licence before entering the electricity market.
The Galati county project was developed by the Romanian business of OX2 for Nala Renewables, whose shareholders include commodities trader Trafigura.
Green Breeze was connected to the grid and energised in May 2026.
The project uses 16 Vestas V162-6.2 MW turbines and is expected to generate approximately 312 GWh annually, equivalent to the electricity consumption of about 51,000 households.
Estimated avoided carbon emissions are around 150,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
Construction began in mid-November 2024, bringing the project from the start of works to near-commercial operation in less than two years.
Under Romanian regulations, generation facilities must secure permanent grid connection, complete testing and receive a conformity certificate from the relevant network operator before qualifying for a commercial operating licence.
Those technical stages have been completed at Green Breeze. Once the licence is issued, market registration will be the remaining step before electricity sales can begin.
The project adds another large-scale wind asset to a Romanian market where renewable development is increasingly being accompanied by investment in batteries and other flexibility resources.
