New 2030 energy strategy includes investment of 634 MEUR in modernization and ecological improvement of the thermal power units with the power over 300 megawatts, in order to complete the obligations of the Large Combustion Plants Directive by 2017. that requires reducing of sulfur and nitrogen gases emissions.
Modernization is predicted in the units from A3 to A6, B1 and B2 in Thermal Power plant “Nikola Tesla” (TENT), and also in both units of Thermal Power Plant “Kostolac B”. The total installed capacity of these units is 3,160 megawatts, and average annual production is 19,000 gigawatt- hours.
It is also predicted seven thermal units (TENT A1 and A2, “Kostolac” A1 and A2, TPP “Morava” TPP “Kolubara” and the Pannonia power plants ) to be successive extinct between 2018. and 2024. It has to do with units of age average of 45 years and energy efficiency below 30%.
