Serbian authorities have arrested 15 individuals on suspicion of abusing their official positions in relation to public procurement processes at the state-owned power utility EPS. Among those arrested is Milorad Grcic, the former acting General Director of EPS.
According to a statement from the prosecutor’s office, the suspects are accused of causing over 850,000 euros in damages to EPS between 2018 and 2021 through various criminal activities. The charges include abuse of office, money laundering, bribery, trading in influence, and misuse of authority.
Grcic served as acting General Director of EPS from March 2016 until January 2022, when he resigned following a fire at the Nikola Tesla B thermal power plant. A member of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Grcic has been serving as the President of the Obrenovac municipality since July 2024.
