Plans for the Banat 2 wind power project in the municipality of Alibunar have advanced after provincial authorities approved the environmental impact assessment for the development.
The project is being developed by Vetroelektrana Banat 2. The future wind farm is designed to include up to 25 turbines, each with an output capacity of up to 8 MW, potentially reaching a total installed capacity of 140 MW once completed.
In addition to the turbines, the project will involve the construction of supporting infrastructure such as turbine foundations, access roads, internal cable networks, and permanent service platforms for maintenance activities. According to project documentation, turbine towers could reach heights of around 165 meters, with total height including the rotor extending to approximately 250 meters. Rotor blades may measure up to 85 meters in length.
The turbines will be equipped with automatic systems to adjust to wind direction and converters to optimize electricity production. Generated electricity will be transmitted through a 35/400 kV transformer station designated as Banat 2.
