From July 2022, Serbia increased monthly coal imports by tenfold, and until August 2023, it paid 567.5 million euros for coal imports.
In just the first half of 2023, Serbia imported 2.7 million tons of brown coal, which is nearly ten times more than in the same period in 2022.
According to data from the Republic Institute of Statistics, the cost of coal imports for Serbia from January to August 2023 amounted to 387.2 million euros, with over three million tons of coal imported.
The majority of coal imports came from Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and starting this year, there has been a significant increase in coal imports from Indonesia.
