Once a leader in South-East Europe in production of copper semi-products and one of the leading exporters in Užice region, the Copper mill in Sevojno has changed three owners since its privatization in 2004 and went from the rise to fighting for survival.
Since the middle of last year the majority owners of East Point Holding, that copper mill is a part of, are two American companies, that are stabilizing the production with the support of NSZ, and hiring young workers, mostly in production.
In one year period since the last change of ownership structure the Copper mill Sevojno managed to increase the production, keep strategic clients and provide jobs for 1.150 workers, out of which 20 got hired recently.
“I got a job straight out of school. This might be one of the best companies if not the best” says Aleksandar Sokić electronics technician.
“Thanks to this internship, six months ago we were in training, then our contract got extended and we stayed here. I am satisfied” said Nenad Simić.
Milija Milutinović said that he completed the training for the job on the furnaces and saw mill so he can work in both positions.
“By vocation I am an IT expert but this job means to me because I know that I can advance” says Milutinović.
With rejuvenation of human resource and orientation towards new products, during last year a procurement of the press worth two million euro was completed in the Copper mill.
“In that way we managed to cut down the costs of production and increase profitability and achieve positive results of four million euro, which is a great success compared to 2014 which was negative for 80.000 euro”, says Milija Božović, director of Copper Mill Sevojno.
This year while having good cooperation with strategic partner RTB Bor and buyers from defense industry, the employees in Copper Mill Sevojno continue with the stabilization of production which will bring them back to the top ten exporters in Serbia, transmits Serbia-energy.eu
