, News Serbia Energy

Today was estimated that Serbia should speed up the activities on realization of project of the  gas pipeline  Niš- Dimitrovgrad accordingly with beginning of the reform in Srbijagas.

As reported on the website of the Ministry of Energy www.merz.gov.rs about this project , Director at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development ( EBRD ) for the region of Central and Eastern Europe, Jean-Marc Peteršmit  and  Assistant Minister of Energy Sector Dejan Trifunovic talked about the project in Belgrade.

The pipeline Nis- Dimitrovgrad should be funded from part of the EBRD loan for Srbijagas 150 million approved in 2010, which is not fully utilized.

According to earlier information , the EBRD’s  requirement was that reforming of  Srbjagas  should start before the money has been diverted . Serbia and Bulgaria signed an agreement on the construction of a two-way pipeline for connecting  gas networks  in March 2010.

The investment for  construction of the interconnection pipeline 180 kilometers long should have been between 100 and 120 million euros , but Bulgaria has provided 60 million euros for the construction of its shares from the EU grant .
