The Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, said today that, as far as the price of electricity is concerned, she thinks that there will be a slight adjustment due to the costs for renewable energy sources.
“We will do our best to preserve the price of electricity so that we are competitive and that the new price is not a blow to the standard of living of citizens, especially until we solve the problem with imported inflation,” said the Prime Minister in a guest appearance on TV Prva.
She stated that the state must additionally invest in new energy capacities and reversible hydroelectric power plants, in order to ensure the balancing of energy sources and produce additional green energy.
According to her, these are medium-term problems, and right now the most important thing is to ensure that there is enough energy for the coming winter.
“The team of the Government of Serbia is working on this together with the team of the President of Serbia, and it is our priority. I believe that we will have enough energy for the winter and provide the citizens with heating and the quality of life they are used to,” said Brnabić.
She pointed out that it is very good that the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, managed to negotiate a gas arrangement for the next three years with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and that gas is pumped into additional gas storages in Hungary and the one in Banatski Dvor.
She pointed out that the Government of Serbia is working to preserve the standards of the population in several ways, through price control of basic foodstuffs, when harmonizing fuel prices, it makes sure that the new prices do not come as a shock to the citizens, and according to her, the announced increase in salaries and pensions will especially help to preserve the standards, reports Euronews.
