Acting General Director of EPS, Dušan Živković, tells RTS that the price of electricity is carefully analyzed and that “there was never a price increase for the sake of a price increase”.
He says that a careful analysis will clearly see if there is a need for a price increase. He also points out that he believes that there will be no layoffs in EPS and that the way they are going is to retain quality employees, from workers to engineers.
He also states that due to the heat wave, there is a noticeable increase in electricity consumption this week.
– Last week it was at the level of 80,000 megawatt hours per day, this week it has already reached 90,000 megawatt hours. The increase in consumption is already at the level of ten percent, but Elektroprivreda provides sufficient amounts of electricity from its own sources without interruption – adds Živković.
It indicates that the mild winter and good hydrology created the conditions for reservoirs and landfills to be full. “We currently have over 600 gigawatt hours in the reservoirs, the landfills are at the level of two million tons of coal, so we are ready to welcome next winter”.
When it comes to coal production, he says that it is at the planned level, and that the goal is to maintain coal dumps at a high level.
– In that sense, we don’t expect any challenges and we believe that it will be like that”, says Živković and added that for now everything is being met by our own needs.
