A new self-propelled conveyor system has been installed at the Drmno open-pit mine in Kostolac, with production expected to start in April, according to the power utility EPS. The investment, valued at 10.6 million euros, is part of EPS’s broader efforts to modernize the mining sector.
The Drmno mine achieved a milestone in 2025, exceeding 10 million tons of coal output, the highest in its history. EPS management emphasized that continuous upgrades to heavy equipment are crucial for maintaining and enhancing production performance while supporting long-term energy security.
EPS highlighted that its mining division, operating across Kolubara and Kostolac, delivered 7% more coal in 2025 compared to 2024. Company officials stressed that the addition of modern machinery not only improves operational efficiency but also ensures a more reliable coal supply for the energy system.
