Serbia: Gazprom did not forgive penalty of 50MUSD for unspent gas
, News Serbia EnergyAmong the allegations of Dusan Bajatovic, Srbijagas director general, as reaction on the BBC and energy group Vaasaett researches and the gas price in European cities, it was given the incorrect information that Russian side, namely company Gazprom forgive 50 million dollars of debt to Serbia last year on the penalty for agreed, but undrawn gas amount, the Ministry of Energy announced.
“In the earlier agreements between Srbijagas and Jugorosgas there was no provision for penalty payment of the retract natural gas, so it is unclear on what basis the penalty has been made and how the amount of 50 million dollars was calculated”, writes in the ministry statement, noting that the penalties were introduced only in the contract for 2013th. In the Ministry response it was also added that ” this is not the first time that Srbijagas director general comes out in public with the statement of forgiven penalties ” and reminds us that he has also talked about it in some interviews during the works on the South Stream pipeline .
