Serbia, Government is doing everything possible to secure enough gas for the winter season, News Serbia Energy
Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic said that the Government is doing everything possible to secure enough gas for the winter season, adding that through connecting with neighboring states, Serbia should be able to receive gas from alternative sources other than Russia.
Minister Mihajlovic said that Serbia failed to complete gas interconnection with Bulgaria, but she believes that it will be completed soon. That will enable the country to receive gas from other suppliers. Next year, Serbia will be able to receive gas from Azerbaijan and liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals in Greece. She pointet out that 30 to 40 % of natural gas imports will be sourced from other suppliers.
She added that for Serbia’s energy security it is necessary to connect with neighboring countries and interconnections with Romania, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia are planned. Also, the expansion of underground gas storage in Banatski Dvor is urgently needed.
