, News Serbia EnergyDelegation of the German Development Bak KfW headed by the director for South-East Europe and Asia Ropand Sieper visited the mine basin Kolubara and talked about the implementation of the project of introducing ecological system to manage coal quality with the representatives of Elektroprivreda Srbije.
During the visit representatives of KfW bank together with Slobodan Mitrović, executive director for coal production in EPS and Darko Daničić project manager of the “Energy efficiency through the application of the ecological system for the management of coal quality” project, made a tour around the open pit Tamnava-Zapadno polje, the plants in Dobripana and Rasadnik new settlement for expropriated households from Vreoci.
-So far contracts have been signed for all four packages of the project for application of ecological system for the management of coal quality, worth 74 million euro. The implementation in the west part of Kolubara mining basin was funded by a loan from German Development bank. We must respect the deadlinesand we hope that by 2017 we will have the system for homogenization which will help us send exclusively guaranteed quality coal to the thermal power plant in Obrenovac – Mitrović said.
Representatives of KfW stressed that this bank which is funding the revitalization of the hydro power plant Zvornik is very keen on transparency of all activities especially when it comes to large and complicated projects, like the the projects implemented in EPS.
Installing new systems and equipment in the mining basin Kolubara will allow a significant increase of the percentage of the use of coal going to thermal power plants Nikola Tesla but it will also improve the environment protection by reducing the emission of pollutants.
The application of ecological system for the management of coal quality, together with the more efficient exploitation of the pits represents one of the conditions for all the environmental projects in the thermal power plants of EPS that were planned for the end of next year and the beginning of 2018, transmits Serbia-energy.eu
