Serbia mining: Mines Kolubara, 11 million tons of lignite
, Mining11.63 million tons of coal were excavated on the open pit mines of Mining Basin “Kolubara” since the beginning of the year, which is four percent more than it was planned for this period.
The production higher than planned also was achieved in the overburden production (land above the coal), which is important because the overburden production is essential to detect coal seams.
So far in “Kolubara” were discovered and delayed about 27 million cubic meters of overburden, or 18 percent above the amounts prescribed by balance.
Half of the electricity in Serbia in thermal power capacities is produced on the basis of Kolubara mined coal and stable operation of the Kolubara mines is condition for the safe operation of thermal power plants and maintenance of the state electrical energy stability, writes in the statement of Mining basin.
