Serbia, More than a third of households reduced their electricity consumption in February, News Serbia Energy
Serbian Ministry of Mining and Energy announced that more than a third of households in Serbia reduced their electricity consumption in February compared to the same month last year, thereby receiving a discount for rational use of electricity.
The statement from the Ministry said that this discount was received by 1,139,558 households, or 36.18 %, while the total discount for rational consumption amounts to over 5.4 million euros.
15 percent discount on the February bill was obtained by 18 % of households, 20 percent discount by 6 % of households, and the highest discount of 30 percent was obtained by 12 % of households. The largest reduction in electricity consumption was achieved in Belgrade, Kragujevac, Loznica, Sabac, Smederevo, Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, and Sremska Mitrovica.
At the end of last year, the Ministry of Mining and Energy proposed recommendations for reducing electricity and heat consumption for state administration, local self-government units, state- owned enterprises, businesses, and households.
Citizens can receive a 15 percent discount on their bill if they have consumed 5 to 20 % less electricity compared to the same month last year, a 20 percent discount if they have consumed up to 30 % less, and a 30 percent discount for more than a 30 % reduction in consumption year-on- year. This scheme is valid until 1 April.
