A subsidiary of Serbian power utility EPS – TENT, which operates TPP Nikola Tesla complex, announced that regular overhaul of unit B2 at thermal power plant Nikola Tesla B has been successfully completed and the unit is successfully synchronized back to the grid.
Director of TPP Nikola Tesla B Ivan Gajic said that the operation of the unit is stable, adding that during the trial period, the operation of the new management system, a new generator, boiler facility and other facilities will be optimized, and the preparations for the efficiency measurement of turbo generator will be performed as well.
The project of revitalization of unit B2 cost about 75 million euros and it increased the power output of the unit by additional 30 MW reaching the output of 650 MW. The project also contributed to greater reliability and efficiency of the unit and increasing of environmental protection as well. The revitalization of unit B2 at TPP Nikola Tesla started on 7 May this year.
Coal fired TPP Nikola Tesla B has six units with combines installed capacity of 1,502 MW and it is part of the Serbian largest electricity generation complex Termoelektrane Nikola Tesla (TENT). TENT consists of four thermal power plants Nikola Tesla A, Nikola Tesla B, Kolubara and Morava with total installed capacity of 3,288 MW.
