The House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) has approved a loan agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB) for the development of the Vlasic wind farm project in Central Bosnia.
The loan, totaling €36 million, comes with a 20-year repayment term and a four-year grace period. The funds will be used for various aspects of the project, including the delivery, installation and commissioning of wind turbines with a total capacity of up to 50 MW. The loan will also cover the construction of foundations, electrical equipment and transformers, a high-voltage substation, overhead power lines, transformers, wiring, telecommunication equipment, and storage facilities. Additionally, it will fund the construction of access roads, cable trenches, assembly areas, crane platforms, and consulting services.
Under the terms of the agreement, the state will transfer the loan funds to the power utility EPBiH, which will act as the end user of the loan. Importantly, no additional co-financing from the state budget will be required during the project’s implementation.
The Vlasic wind farm will be situated on the Vlasic plateau in the municipality of Travnik. The project will feature up to 18 wind turbines, along with necessary access roads and energy infrastructure. It is expected to generate approximately 115 GWh of electricity annually, depending on the final selection of wind turbines. The wind farm is projected to have a lifespan of around 25 years.
