A group of investors from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) is planning to develop a solar power plant in Ljubinje, located in the Republic of Srpska (RS), on an 85-hectare site. They are currently seeking a concession from the RS Government and have received positive initial feedback regarding their proposal.
The project is being spearheaded by Sediment, representing a consortium that includes Enco, ASA Holding, Prevent, Biona Energy, and I+D Energias, a company operating in Spain and Lithuania. The proposed solar power plant is expected to have an installed capacity of 65 MW, generating approximately 104 GWh of electricity annually.
In the upcoming weeks, the RS Ministry of Energy and Mining is set to prepare the necessary documentation, while the RS Commission for Concessions will oversee the concession awarding process. The RS Government’s decision confirms that there is significant public interest—economically, sociologically, and environmentally—in moving forward with this project.
Recently, ASA Energija, a subsidiary of one of the consortium members, successfully commissioned two solar power plants in the Una-Sana canton. The ASA L1 and ASA L2 plants, each with a capacity of 4 MW, have a combined installed capacity of 8 MW and are projected to generate over 12,000 MWh of electricity annually. Located near Bosanski Petrovac, these plants consist of more than 19,000 solar panels and took approximately a year to complete.
This initiative marks an important step toward enhancing renewable energy capacity in the region.
