The Northern Adriatic Hydrogen Valley project is set to develop 17 initiatives among partner countries—Croatia, Slovenia and Italy—with expectations to produce the first volumes of green hydrogen by 2026. Project coordinator Jerneja Sedlar highlighted that the initiative, which commenced in September 2023 and will run for six years, aims to generate approximately 5,000 tons of renewable hydrogen across the three nations, fostering a comprehensive ecosystem for hydrogen production, transport, and energy.
The project emphasizes regional collaboration, uniting 37 companies and institutions to devise innovative solutions for a sustainable future. With a budget of €25 million in non-refundable funds, the Northern Adriatic Hydrogen Valley represents the EU’s first international hydrogen valley.
