In July 2024, the average price of electricity on the day-ahead market of the Romanian energy exchange OPCOM reached €145.14/MWh. This marks a significant increase of 49.87% compared to July 2023 and a 48.44% rise from the previous month, when the average baseload price was €97.78/MWh.
Traded volume for the month totaled 1.73 million MWh, representing a 25.74% increase from July 2023 and a 31.72% rise compared to June 2024. The average traded volume in July was 2,325.9 MWh/h. The total transaction value reached €291.5 million, a dramatic 109.4% increase year-over-year and a 112.02% rise from June.
The day-ahead market accounted for 38.59% of forecasted net consumption in July 2024. On the intraday market, 153,005 MWh were traded, up 7.41% from July 2023 but down 13.27% from June. The average price on the intraday market was €139.75/MWh, marking a 42.35% increase compared to July 2023 and a 44.39% rise from the previous month.
Additionally, total traded volume for bilateral contracts with delivery in July amounted to 0.742 million MWh, with an average price of €94.04/MWh.
