The last week of August saw mixed trends in solar and wind energy production across major European markets. Solar energy production rose by 11% in the German market, breaking a three-week downward trend, while it remained stable in France. However, the Iberian and Italian markets saw declines, with Spain and Portugal experiencing the most significant reductions at 13% and 11%, respectively. Italy had a smaller decline of 3.3%.
For the first week of September, AleaSoft Energy Forecasting predicts that solar energy production will decrease in Italy and Germany but increase in Spain, potentially reversing the recent downward trend in the Iberian market.
Wind energy production in the last week of August generally fell across Europe, with the most significant drops in Germany (47%), Portugal (44%), and France (39%). Spain experienced a smaller decline of 23%. In contrast, Italy saw a 34% increase in wind energy production, continuing its upward trend. Forecasts for the first week of September suggest that wind energy production will rise in the Iberian Peninsula and Germany but decrease in Italy and France, AleaSoft reports.
