In the week of September 2, solar energy production increased across the Iberian Peninsula, reversing the downward trend observed in the previous three weeks. The Spanish market, encompassing both photovoltaic and solar thermal energy, saw the largest rise, with a 7.3% increase. The Portuguese market also experienced growth, though more modest at 0.6%. In contrast, solar energy generation decreased in Germany, Italy, and France. France saw the most significant drop, with a 35% decrease, followed by Italy with a 20% decline, and Germany with a 13% reduction.
On Friday, September 6, Spain achieved its highest daily photovoltaic energy production for any September, generating 171 GWh. Similarly, Portugal recorded its highest daily photovoltaic production for September on the 4th, with 20 GWh.
Looking ahead to the week of September 9, forecasts from AleaSoft Energy Forecasting suggest that solar energy production will decline in Italy and Germany but will continue to rise in Spain, maintaining the trend from the previous week.
In the week of September 2, wind energy production increased across most major European markets, reversing the trend from the previous week. Portugal experienced the largest growth, with a 96% increase, while Spain and Germany saw rises of 23% and 21%, respectively. France had the smallest increase at 6.1%. Notably, Italy’s wind energy production decreased by 34%.
