MET Group has commissioned its second solar power plant in Hungary, located in Kaba in the eastern part of the country. The new MET Kaba II Solar Park spans 31 hectares and features over 33,000 solar panels. This 23.4 MW project was developed internally as a greenfield initiative following the success of the first Kaba solar power plant, which was commissioned in 2021.
Clive Turton, Executive Chairman of MET Group’s Green Assets Division, highlighted the significant growth of solar energy in Hungary in recent years, noting that solar power accounted for approximately 19.5% of the country’s total electricity generation in 2023 and around 33% of the current energy mix. He emphasized that solar power, being low-cost, abundant, and 100% sustainable, will play a crucial role in the energy transition both in Europe and globally.
