Retele Electrice Muntenia has announced a public tender valued at 89 million euros for designing and carrying out maintenance and modernization works on medium and low-voltage networks in Ilfov and Giurgiu counties. This initiative aims to enhance energy infrastructure by improving the safety, resilience and efficiency of distribution networks in these areas.
General Manager of Retele Electrice companies Mihai Peste said that the goal of this tender is to establish solid partnerships with contractors who can meet standards for the safe and efficient construction and operation of electricity networks. Maintenance and modernization efforts are crucial for ensuring a stable, efficient network capable of handling the increasingly complex challenges in the energy sector.
The projects will focus on upgrading and expanding both overhead and underground low-voltage networks, increasing distribution capacity, improving voltage stability in existing systems, and modernizing transformer substations and other network components.
Retele Electrice companies manage networks totaling approximately 134,000 kilometers across three key regions: South Muntenia (including Bucharest), Banat and Dobrogea, covering about one-third of the local distribution market. They are implementing an investment program to enhance service quality, network safety and performance while aligning with the environmental standards set by the PPC Group. The infrastructure includes 289 transformer stations and more than 25,000 transformer substations operated by the three Retele Electrice companies.
