Romanian oil and gas company OMV Petrom is advancing its renewable energy portfolio with plans to develop a new energy storage installation. The proposed facility will have a storage capacity of 36 MWh and a discharge rate of 18 MW. This project is set to complement the 89 MW solar power plant that OMV Petrom is currently developing in Isalnita.
Frank Neel, Head of OMV Petrom’s Energy and Gas Division, announced that the company has submitted a proposal for this storage capacity under the PNRR call for projects. The decision to proceed with the Isalnita solar power plant was finalized in June 2024, and the integration of the energy storage system is expected to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the plant’s power output.
