The Serbian energy exchange SEEPEX recorded its highest-ever monthly activity in May 2026, with a total of 566,303.8 MWh of electricity traded on the day-ahead market. This represents a 17% increase compared to April and a 12.5% rise year-on-year, marking an all-time record for the exchange.
Average daily traded volume reached 18,267.9 MWh, reflecting sustained market activity throughout the month. The strong performance highlights growing liquidity and participation in Serbia’s organized electricity trading platform.
Price movements also showed an upward trend. The average base price on the day-ahead market in May stood at €96.63/MWh, up 5.6% compared to April. In contrast, the average euro-peak price declined by 3%, reaching €65.6/MWh, indicating mixed dynamics between baseload and peak demand periods.
On the intraday market, a total of 4,969.2 MWh was traded during May, with an average price of €41.539/MWh. The intraday segment, introduced in July 2023, continues to develop as an additional layer of flexibility for market participants.
SEEPEX was launched on 17 February 2016 with an initial traded volume of just 1,925 MWh, and has since expanded significantly. The exchange is jointly owned by EMS (Serbian Electricity Transmission System Operator) and EPEX SPOT, aiming to support a transparent, competitive, and integrated electricity market in Serbia and the wider Southeast European region.
