Serbia, State will secure sufficient quantities of energy and energy sources for households and the economy, News Serbia Energy
According to the Serbian Ministry of Energy, the drop in electricity production in Serbia’s coal-fired thermal power plants as a consequence of the insufficient quantities of delivered coal will lead to an additional imports, considering low temperatures forecast and the expected increase in electricity consumption during the cold spell.
The Work Group for monitoring the security of the supply of energy and energy sources said that due to the fire incident with excavator used to deposit mine tailings in mid-January at the Kolubara basin, coal production will be decreased until the new excavator is installed.
However, the state will secure sufficient quantities of energy and energy sources for households and the economy in the upcoming period, with the additional imports of electricity and natural gas in order to ensure energy security.
According to electricity distribution system operator, there are no major problems with the supply of electricity to consumers in Serbia. There was also talks about the situation in the gas sector in Serbia, and the conclusion is that the supply of the local market is stable, while the delivery of heating energy is carried out without major problems.
