Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic announced that the invitation for the country’s first auctions for awarding wind capacity will be launched in the first quarter of 2023.
Minister Djedovic said that the Ministry will adopt a three-year auction plan in which the desired dynamics of the development of the RES sector will be presented in a transparent way, which will facilitate the planning of investments for investors.
Speaking at the conference organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in Serbia, she said that Serbia spends four times more energy than the European average in order to produce the same GDP unit, which points to the fact that energy savings can contribute to the competitiveness of the economy.
According to her, Serbia is currently realizing or preparing the realization of a large number of projects, whose value exceeds 920 million euros. The estimates say that their realization will help save at least 950 GWh a year, while, at the same time, the emission of greenhouse gases will be lowered by close to 580,000 tons of carbon- dioxide, which is equivalent to about 15 % of the CO2 emissions that are a result of household heating.
