The contract on the import of Azerbaijani gas to Serbia provides consumers in our country with a new supplier, but due to insufficient quantities, it does not represent an alternative to the Russian “blue energy network” nor will it be cheaper than it, according to local experts.
The Minister of Mining and Energy of Serbia, Dubravka Đedović Handanović, signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the relevant ministries of Serbia and Azerbaijan, which deepens relations in the field of energy, as well as a commercial contract between the gas companies Sokar and Srbijagas, which will enable deliveries of up to 400 million cubic meters. gas from that country until the end of next year.
– By signing the Memorandum, we deepened the bilateral cooperation between Serbia and Azerbaijan in energy and ensured the supply of gas from this country in quantities of up to 400 million cubic meters of gas per year until 2026, while after that we can also supply one billion cubic meters of gas from this country – said Đedović Handanović. after the signing of the Memorandum and the commercial contract in the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan.
She added that after the completion of the construction of the gas interconnection with Bulgaria, Serbia will have Azerbaijan as another gas supplier.
