The southern Serbian city of Vranje has approved the detailed regulation plan for the 100-MW Poljanica wind farm, allowing the project to move into further technical preparation and permitting.
Local company Windflow West is developing the project as the second phase of the broader Grot and Oblik wind complex.
Vranje has supported the development since signing a business and technical cooperation agreement with the company in November 2022. Under the agreement, the city will provide logistical assistance during preparation of the planning and technical documentation.
The municipality will receive revenue once the plant starts operating. Windflow West is required to pay the city an amount equal to 1% of gross electricity sales.
Approval of the regulation plan gives the development its required spatial framework but does not constitute construction approval. The project must still progress through technical design, environmental procedures, grid connection and financing.
Poljanica could add substantial renewable capacity in southern Serbia, but its timetable will depend on whether the developer can secure network access and complete the remaining permits in an increasingly congested project pipeline.
