Slovenian electricity transmission system operator ELES and electricity distribution system operator SODO made an overview of locations where there are technical conditions for the construction of large-scale solar power plants, with output larger than 10 MW and their connection to the transmission network, and with output larger than 5 MW and their connection to the distribution network. The analysis showed that power plants with a total capacity of 1,826 MW can be connected to the transmission and distribution networks.
The analysis, ordered by the Ministry of Infrastructure, has shown that there are 58 locations in Slovenia suitable for the construction of solar power plants with output larger than 10 MW.
The analysis shows that a total of 1.031 MW of solar power plants could be connected to the transmission network and additional 795 MW to the distribution network. Drava, Sava, Mura and Central Slovenia are the regions with the greatest potential.
The installation of solar power plants with total capacity of 1 GW by 2025 is one of priority goals of the Government of Prime Minister Robert Golob.
