Slovenian energy company HSE operates two hydropower subsidiaries – Dravske Elektrarne Maribor (DEM) and Soske Elektrarne Nova Gorica (SENG), and coal-fired thermal power plant Sostanj.
Power plants operated by HSE achieved a record daily electricity production of 36.7 GWh on 13 October 2020.
This is also record daily electricity production in the history of Slovenia’s largest electricity producer and trader. Such results have been achieved due to excellent hydrological conditions, high reliability of the plants and favorable conditions in the energy market.
In addition, on 15 October, HSE put 71 kW solar power plant Hubelj in operation, located on the roof of the engine room of small hydropower plant Hubelj. DEM already operates four solar power plants with a total capacity of 1.086 MW.
HSE is the largest Slovenian producer of electricity and is increasingly turning to renewable energy sources: the construction of new hydropower and solar power plants. Thus, on 2 October, a new concession agreement was signed for the construction of hydropower plants in the central course of the Sava river, which should increase HSE’s production of green electricity by 20 %.
