Block 6 of the Slovenian coal-fired thermal power plant Šoštanj, which is managed by the energy company Holding Slovenske elektrarne (HSE), will be reconnected to the electricity grid at the beginning of December, after a month and a half of downtime. The unit was offline due to the company’s attempt to conserve coal for the winter season.
The block with a capacity of 600 MW had been shut down since mid-October due to problems with the supply of coal from the nearby Velenjsko mine. The thermal power plant was originally scheduled to be out of operation until November 2, but restarting production was delayed in order to save coal.
