At a conference on “Energy market in Albania”, in Tirana, Albania’s Prime Minister Sali Berisha said that the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) is not only important for Albania but also for the whole of Europe.
He noted that through the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, significant energy corridors that deliver gas to European countries would be connected.
“Trans Adriatic Pipeline is without a doubt the most important and most promising project in the last 100 years in the energy field. Also, the TAP project is of vital importance for Europe, “Berisha said.
He said that the geographical area of Albania is very suitable for the construction of TAP project and that this country plans to become a regional superpower in the field of energy.
Also, the meeting in Tirana was attended by the European Union representative in Tirana Ettore Sekui who said on this occasion that TAP is a very important project for the whole of Europe.
“Europe will get a safe passage for natural gas with TAP project. Abanija will also benefit from this project” said Sekui.
Within the Trans Adriatic Pipeline project it is planned to build a 520 kilometer long pipeline that would transport natural gas from the Caspian region and the Middle East to Europe.
The pipeline begins in Greece, near Thessaloniki and goes through Albania and under the Adriatic Sea, to get out on the Italian coast near Brindisi.
