In the thermal power plant (TPP) Kostolac a revitalized block B2 with 350 MW power, worth 102 million Euros started working. At a ceremony marking the completion of the revitalization of the block, which was attended by Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, it was said that the main objectives were to achieve the strength of 360 (MW), modernization of the block, and like everywhere in the world, to increase energy efficiency and environmental protection.
Prime Minister Dacic said that he was satisfied with what has been done, especially by the fact that planned deadlines were met and project was implemented in the given dynamics.
Dacic underlined that once again a good cooperation with the People’s Republic of China was confirmed, which is a solid foundation for further bilateral relations.
Director of TPP Kostolac Dragan Jovanovic said that after the second phase of the revitalization that begins today, the benefits of this immense job will be stable and the loan from the Chinese Exim Bank will be fully utilized.
Jovanovic stressed how specific this loan is, since it was given by the government of the People’s Republic of China, but companies from that country are not participating in the realization of this loan.
Jovanovic said that out of the 64 million dollars that was the total loan amount, they have so far used 58 million dollars.
Chairman of the Board of Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS) Aca Markovic said that thanks to this job by the end of the year 35 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity will be delivered, which will almost entirely make the balance.
“Production is the key thing, and hardly any region has such a high production,” said Markovic.
