Installed capacity of electricity power generation in Turkey increased by three percent thanks to investments of 3.6 billion dollars in the first half of 2015th, said Turkish Energy Minister Taner Yildiz.
“Investments in the energy sector in the first half of 2015th were higher than we had planned. Turkey has installed an additional 2,084 MW of capacity during this period, so the total installed capacity reached 71,695 MW”, said Yildiz.
The increase in capacity was mainly from the sectors of renewable energy, mostly from hydropower.
At the same time, electricity production increased by 2.9 percent, while consumption grew by 2.5 percent.
