Minister of Energy, Development and Environment, Professor Dr Zorana Mihajlovic, accommodated U.S Ambassador to Serbia, Mr. Michael Kirby and Managing Director of General Electric for South East Europe, Mr. Gaetan Masara on 21 December. The meeting subject was potential American companies’ investments in energy in Serbia.
Serbia wants American investors, especially referential companies like General Electric to be present on domestic trade- stated Minister Zorana Mihajlovic. She announced that presence of these companies increases level of all future investors who have to be ready to keep up with competition that General Electric giant represents.
U.S Embassy in Serbia Economy Counselor Mr. Douglas Apostle, U.S Embassy Trade Counselor Mr. Brad Harker, Deputy Minister of Energy, Development and Environment Mr. Dejan Trifunovic, Special Counselor of Minister Ljubomir Aksentijevic, and Stephan Ritter, Marko Liposcak, Natasa Pavlovic from General Electric participated this very constructive meeting. The main subjects were investments in renewable energy sources and gas sector.
General Electric as respectable company with world trade references is present in West Balkan region, but not at Serbian market. Information about priority projects, which Ministry represented on 14 December, details about suggested changes and additions to Energy Law and clearer and more coherent legislation in renewable energy sources area overview are very interesting questions for future investments of USA companies.
