According to short-term indicators of energy statistics published by Croatian Bureau of Statistics, net electricity production in Croatia in December 2021 amounted to 1,664 GWh, which is 3.5 % lower compared to December last year, when the production amounted to 1,725 GWh.
During December, 970 GWh of electricity or 58.3 % was produced in hydropower plants, 343 GWh or 20.6 % was produced in thermal power plants, while wind farms produced 252 GWh or 15.1 % of total produced electricity. During this period, Croatia imported 968 GWh of electricity, 31.5 % more compared to last December (736 GWh), while electricity exports stood at 916 GWh, 7.4 % more compared to December 2020 (853 GWh).
Regarding hydrocarbon production, Croatia produced 61 million cubic meters of natural gas in December 2021, 11.6 % less compared to December last year. Natural gas imports stood at 188 million cubic meters, 8.3 % less than in December 2020. Crude oil production stood at 48,000 tons, 2.1 % more compared to the same month last year. Production of petroleum products stood at 44,000 tons in December 2021, compared to 41,000 tons in the same month last year .
