Albania: Wind farms’ electricity purchase price set
, SEE Energy NewsCurrently in Albania only two wind projects have approvals issued by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, which are used as a model in the pricing methodology.
The Albanian Energy Regulatory Agency (ERE) has set the purchase price of electricity produced by wind farms with an installed capacity of up to 3 MW, at 75.64 euros/MWh. According to the ERE’s decision, this price is formally valid for 2020, although no wind farm has been put into operation in Albania yet.
The two companies which have obtained licenses for wind projects are Green Tech and Anemoi, which will sell electricity to the state after the wind farms are put into operation, at the price set by ERE.
As for other renewable energy projects in Albania, 11 licenses have been issued so far for solar power plants up to 2 MW. The electricity they produce is purchased by the electricity distributions system operator OSHEE. Solar power plants with a capacity of up to 2MW and wind farms up to 3 MW are approved only with the signature of the Minister of Energy.
