Bosnia and Herzegovina installed 107 MW of solar capacity in 2022, according to the data from the International Renewable Energy Association (IRENA).
BiH is ready for more solar energy, given its strong potential due to its climate. Herzegovina, in particular, is optimal for solar energy as it receives 2,400 hours of sunlight annually with radiation levels of 1,500 kWh/m2 per year, according to associate professor at the University of Nottingham, Trent Farooq Sher.
Herzegovina is ready for the development of solar power plants with immense capacity. This conclusion was reached after two years of researching the capacity and potential of renewable energy sources in the country.
The results were published in the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, in a co-authored study on the Perspectives of the potential and development of renewable energy sources in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
