Gross electricity production in Bosnia and Herzegovina amounted to 1,412 GWh in May 2023, compared to 1,269 GWh in the same month in 2022, according to national Agency for Statistics. In gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 52%, thermal power plants with 45% and solar and wind power plants with 3%.
Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 723 GWh in May 2023, which is by 99% higher than in the same month in 2022. Thermal power plants produced 570 GWh, which is 28% less than last May. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 48 GWh.
Electricity imports rose by 40% to 293 GWh in May 2023 from 210 GWh in May 2022, while exports rose by 50% to 809 GWh (540 GWh in May 2022).
