Bosnian coal mines production capacities are severely downgraded which jeopardized the supply to power plants key to country energy supply balance. The power utility EPBiH allocated 160MEUR for coal mine modernization investments 2016/2018.
Government of FBiH will invest a total of 160MEUR – 320 million BAM in five mines that are operating within “Elektroprivreda BiH” (EP) in the next 2 years.
This is the investment cycle from 2016 to 2018, as confirmed by Nermin Dzindic, Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry.
These are the largest investment of the Government in the mines in FBiH so far. The previous government invested almost 150 million BAM in 4 years.
Working conditions in the mines will be improved with the new investments, and safety will be raised to a higher level.
The goal of investing is to improve conditions of work, but also, in return, to give certain benefits to the FBiH.
“Everything must be transparent. Government needs to know where the money is going and how is it spent, and not like in previous years, mines receive investment, and it is spent for other purposes. From now on, we will find a mechanism to monitor and control the expenditures of these funds,” said Dzindic, transmits Serbia-energy.eu
