The price of electricity in Republika Srpska is cheaper by as much as 2,500 percent compared to the current global stock market price, said the executive director for investments and development of “Elektroprivreda Republika Srpska” ERS Jovica Vlatković.
Vlatković said that there will be no increase in the price of electricity in Srpska, even though it is the cheapest in the region and in Europe, and for the economy it is 53 euros per megawatt-hour, while for households it is even lower than production, reports Srpskainfo.
– ERS and the Government of Srpska are making maximum efforts to maintain current electricity prices on the domestic market in order to save households and the economy from higher costs – said Vlatković for Glas Srpska.
Vlatković pointed out that the global crisis, which has not bypassed the energy sector either, creating enormous pressure even on the most developed EU countries, will not have a negative impact on the Republika Srpska’s power sector and electricity prices.
Speaking about investments, Vlatković reminded that the past year marked the biggest investment cycle since the existence of ERS and that it was the most successful investment and financial year since the establishment of the company.
When it comes to the investments that marked this year, Vlatković mentioned the “Energy sustainability program for households and the economy 50,000 plus”, that is, the construction of solar power plants on the roofs of households, that is, family houses.
– In that project, ERS participates with 20 percent, households with 80 percent, which will return it in equal installments over a period of ten years – said Vlatković, reports Blic.
