, SEE Energy NewsThe Government of Sarajevo Canton said that it is currently considering the establishment of a public company in charge of renewable energy generation in an effort to increase electricity generation within the Canton borders.
The statement from the Cantonal Government said that it will launch a feasibility study on the socio- economic justification of establishing a public renewable energy producer. The study will also explore the potential benefits of the construction of wind farms on four locations and solar power plants on two locations.
The total energy consumption in the Sarajevo Canton reached 5,125.88 GWh in 2021, a 6.01 % increase compared with a year earlier. Some 61.64 % of the electricity consumed in the Canton in 2021 was imported.
