According to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,188 GWh in June 2021, compared to 1,025 GWh in the same month last year .
In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 25.5 %, thermal power plants with 72.4 % and solar and wind power plants with 2.1 %.
Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 291 GWh in June 2021, which is 15 % more than in the same month in 2020 (253 GWh). Thermal production amounted to 775 GWh, which is 14 % more than last June. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 25 GWh, 25 % more than last year.
Electricity imports dropped by 15.6 % to 238 GWh in June from last year’s 282 GWh, while exports increased by 5.4 % to 446 GWh (423 GWh in June 2020).
Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 424,000 tons in June 2021, which is 4.1 % less compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal increased by 9 % and amounted to 568,000 tons.
Natural gas imports in June 2021 amounted to 10.6 million cubic meters, 35 % more compared to a year before (7.84 million cubic meters).
