According to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,198 GWh in September 2021, compared to 1,152 GWh in the same month last year.
In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 26.1 %, thermal power plants with 71.7 % and solar and wind power plants with 2.2 %.
Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 300 GWh in September 2021, which is approximately the same as in the same month in 2020 (301 GWh). Thermal production amounted to 775 GWh, which is 3.3 % more than last September. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 27 GWh, 35 % more than last year.
Electricity imports dropped by 1 % to 315 GWh in September from last year’s 318 GWh, while exports decreased by 9.4 % to 490 GWh (541 GWh in September 2020).
Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 590,000 tons in September 2021, which is 9.8 % less compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal increased by 16.1 % and amounted to 549,000 tons.
Natural gas imports in September 2021 amounted to 3.88 million cubic meters, 43.8 % less compared to a year before (6.9 million cubic meters).
