According to Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), gross electricity production in the country amounted to 1,282 GWh in July 2021, compared to 1,231 GWh in the same month last year .
In total gross electricity production hydropower plants participated with the share of 20.7 %, thermal power plants with 77.1 % and solar and wind power plants with 2.2 %.
Net production of hydropower plants amounted to 255 GWh in July 2021, which is 9.9 % less than in the same month in 2020 (283 GWh). Thermal production amounted to 898 GWh, which is 7.4 % more than last July. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 29 GWh, 38 % more than last year.
Electricity imports dropped by 1.9 % to 307 GWh in July from last year’s 313 GWh, while exports decreased by 8.3 % to 516 GWh (563 GWh in July 2020).
Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 515,000 tons in July 2021, which is 10 % more compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal increased by 9.6 % and amounted to 560,000 tons.
Natural gas imports in July 2021 amounted to 10.56 million cubic meters, 43.5 % more compared to a year before (7.36 million cubic meters).
